Ken and I both worked for Bud Plant at the same time in the early and mid-’80s (and later, for Capital City at the same time as well), though in different cities. He managed the LA warehouse when I was managing the Bay Area branch, and since I was the guy who placed orders with the comics publishers, we necessarily talked on the phone a lot, so while I met him only perhaps a dozen or so times, I felt that I knew him better than that would indicate. I’d already been in the distribution business about ten years at the time, but it always felt as if I was learning something from him. His orders were always on time, too, despite his always claiming to be in a state of chaos.

I hope people will use this site, not so much to eulogize Ken as to celebrate his life.

Ken was always funny, crotchety, usually obscene it was why most of us enjoyed his company so much.

He loved things like Benny King and that horrid movie with the midget from Fanatasy Island (mercifully, I’ve forgotten the name of the movie)–anything low brow.

Any anecdotes or recollections (and they all don’t have to be, nor should they be sanitized). I think Ken would have liked that.
